Dr. Jordi Monés, MD, PhD, is a distinguished ophthalmologist specializing in macular and vitreoretinal diseases. He serves as the Director of the Institut de la Màcula in Barcelona and is the Medical Director and a founding member of the Barcelona Macula Foundation

Dr. Monés earned his medical degree and PhD cum laude from the Universitat de Barcelona. He completed his ophthalmology residency at the Centro de Oftalmología Barraquer and pursued advanced fellowships at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary (Harvard University) and the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey

A pioneer in retinal research, Dr. Monés has led numerous international clinical trials and contributed to the development of therapies for age-related macular degeneration (AMD), including anti-complement treatments and stem cell-based regenerative approaches. He is a member of the Retina Society, the Macula Society, and the Club Jules Gonin

Dr. Monés is also an Associate Professor at the John A. Moran Eye Center, University of Utah Health, and serves as Director of the AMD Disease Area at Perceive Biotherapeutics
