Dr. SriniVas R. Sadda, MD, FARVO, is a leading retinal specialist and innovator in ophthalmology. He serves as the Director of Artificial Intelligence & Imaging Research at the Doheny Eye Institute and holds the A. Ray Irvine, Jr., MD, Endowed Chair in Clinical Ophthalmology. He is Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Geffen School of Medicine. Dr. Sadda earned his MD from Johns Hopkins University, where he also completed his ophthalmology residency and fellowships in medical retina and neuro-ophthalmology at the Wilmer Eye Institute.

An internationally recognized expert in retinal imaging, his research focuses on automated retinal image analysis, advanced imaging technologies, and clinical trial endpoint design. He has authored over 800 peer-reviewed publications and 20 book chapters, including serving as Editor-in-Chief of the 7th edition of Ryan’s Retina. Dr. Sadda has delivered more than 600 presentations worldwide and has been a principal investigator in over 30 major clinical trials.

He was the 2024–2025 President of the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO), the world’s largest eye and vision research organization. Dr. Sadda’s contributions have earned him numerous honors, including the Retina Research Foundation Merit Award in 2023.
